What's Up....

Cannot believe it's been nearly three months and I haven't posted an update on what's going on!

I haven't been slacking, promise!

Been working on the ten and last song of my 6th album and it's going well but taking time.

The song is very different to what the other songs sound like... it's more of a pop-tune.

The drums has got a handclaps and I've put the electronic sounding kick and snare drum, together with the hi-hat, ride and cymbal sounds from the Alesis Compact Drum 7 desktop box.

The bass guitar like on the other songs I played with my fingers not using a plectrum, which has produced a deeper sound.

The guitar were recorded without effects and effects added, which allows more freedom to experiment with different effects and producing interesting sounds.

There is a xylophone sound, which I played using the Alesis Compact Drum 7 desktop box, that has added a more mellow sound.

I have programmed a grand classical piano sound, further adding that pop-mellow vibe to the composition.

Just need to arrange the congos and snare fills I played to be placed on the track, together with sound effects and then it's go for the vocals to be added.

Thank you to my fans and your patience and Keep on Rockin'!

Overworking on this album project!

Developing new ways in producing my music has meant working in one direction, then changing direction when the result was disappointing, thus adding more frustration in getting this album project finished.

It is like I've recorded four albums, as the amount of times re-recording parts and re-working parts of the songs has meant I've been doing too much in getting this album project completed.

I always get the projects that I set out to do, done, in the end!

But this new album of mine will be liked by you my fans: new, old and in the future!

Keep on Rockin'!

Drums?

I have completed four songs so far, which is featuring electronic drums played by myself.

As I didn't intend to play the drums, I have sampled some of my drum playing, which is making this project fun once again.

I didn't think of using my drum playing throughout my songs, but due to the difficulty in getting my guitar playing synchronised with the drums I programmed in the Cubase DAW*, meant that playing the drums I could get the right tempo for each part of the songs.

The reason for the difficulty was because I used a drum machine within the studio recording outboard equipment and when I transfered the WAV files to my computer the Cubase used a different value, so fitting the programmed drums wasn't very good.

As time goes on I'm getting better in the way I'm working in performing and recording my music.

* DAW: Digital Audio Workstation.

News: Instrumental Guitar Album Project

During working on my sixth album I recorded extra guitar and drums, which has meant that I've got three instrumental backing tracks and one track of lead guitar, which is very good and features wah-wah effects, plus I have programmed some studio effects in Cubase DAW to add different sonic dimensions to my lead guitar work.

When I record the drums it will be on a proper full sized electronic drum kit, with mesh drum skins that adds the real response and sound of a traditional drum kit.

Expanding the way I'm working is making music more exciting, with better results.

Keep on Rockin'!

UPDATE: February - March - Finished Recording!

Hooray! All of the overdubs of the drums, bass and guitars have all been recorded.

The last song was recorded from stratch, which was an enjoyable experience.

Now for the 'cutting-in' which is slotting all of the overdubs into place, which is another enjoyable creative process.

This will probably take another three months and I know I'm behind, but this album will ROCK!

Thank you Rockers!

UPDATE - January

I have recorded the overdubs for five songs: drums - percussions - bass - rhythm and lead guitars.

I have recorded including the overdubs up to 60 - 100 takes for all of the instruments on each song.

Quite a lot of work still to do, but going well and I am enjoying the creative process of this album.
